GARUDA INDONESIA RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE BEST WORLD AIRLINES IN HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOL IMPLEMENTATION

The national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has recognised as one of the best world airlines in health safety protocol implementation during pandemic situation according to Safe Travel Barometer (STB). STB is an independent institution that assesses health and safety protocol implementation standards of world airlines amid COVID-19 prevention.

Following the Safe Travel Score, Garuda Indonesia becomes the only airline from Indonesia that successfully placed within the TOP 20 ranks with the other global airlines. This rank was evaluated based on a comprehensive assessment of the airline health and safety protocol standard implementation. Garuda Indonesia emerged with a score of 4 out of 5.

President & CEO Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra stated that “This achievement certainly has its meaning for our consistent effort in prioritising the health protocol implementation in all our flight operations to ensure the optimisation of COVID-19 prevention in flights are running smoothly”.

Safe Travel Barometer measures the health and safety protocol based on consumers needs. These include passenger convenience, service excellence, and experience across their flight journey. The survey consists of more than 200 world airlines. Besides, the indicators for the Safe Travel Score covers face masks regulation for airline staff, disinfection frequency procedure, thermal screening as well as health declaration form policy.

Garuda, Indonesia has had a lacklustre safety record. According to airlinerating.com, Garuda Indonesia scores 5/7 on safety. However, the airline scores 6/7 on Covid-19 safe measures rating. This award will aid Garuda Indonesia in beefing up its safety reputation in the region.
